New Standards Holiday Show

About the show:

Celebrating its 13th anniversary season in 2019, The New Standards Holiday Show rings in the yule with a unique twist on traditional holiday concerts – one part variety show, one part homage to the season, one part irreverent, free-wheeling spectacle. The trio is joined by a supporting cast replete with vocalists and instrumentalists – and as always – a dazzling lineup of special surprise guests. You won’t soon forget this show that has become a beloved annual tradition in the Twin Cities and beyond.

About the band:

The New Standards are three friends, musicians, and raconteurs who have been performing together since 2005 in clubs and theaters everywhere, from Shanghai to New York City. They’ve released half a dozen CDs and populated YouTube with a number of popular videos. In their original state, they take the form of an unusual trio (standup bass, piano, and vibraphone), but also inhabit the soul and creative core of the hydra-headed, funny, freewheeling, nutty yet very moving holiday variety show.

Yam Haus

Minneapolis-based pop group, Yam Haus, is winning over the indie dominated scene of the Twin Cities with “electro-poppy grooves and swooning vocals” (Star Tribune, June 2018). Tight guitars, dreamy synths, and clean production from Grammy award-winning producer Mark Heimermann, helped drive year one successes.

Their debut album, “Stargazer,” lands with the energy of WALK THE MOON, the charisma of Coldplay, and the emotion of Ed Sheeran. Strong melodies and thoughtful songwriting become even more apparent and powerful when big production and synth-heavy tracks are stripped back with the minimal arrangements of their acoustic EP, “Stargazer Sessions.”

An acronym, “Yam” stands for “You Are Me,” which is their take on the golden rule. Their positivity and broad inclusiveness is mimicked by their audience ranging from toddlers to grandmas and everyone in between. High energy and crafted sets, dedicated fans, and enticing personalities have led to numerous sold-out shows and are propelling them into even larger invitations.

Cloud Cult

Since 1995, Cloud Cult has crafted sprawling, cathartic albums that have won them the attention of the New York Times, MTV, Spin, Billboard and a devoted following of fans. During that time, the band grew from the solo project of singer/songwriter Crain Minowa to include the rock band along with violin, cello, trumpet, trombone, and French horn. Two live painters create original artwork on stage during each performance. The band has remained independent for the past decade and a half in favor of keeping total control of the ethical aspects of their music and business, despite enticing offers from notable major labels. In the process, Cloud Cult has sold over 100,00 albums out of lead singer/songwriter Craig Minowa’s organic hobby farm.

The Papa Charlie’s show is an evening with Cloud Cult featuring an acoustic set followed by an electric set. To improve the guest experience, we are limiting the room capacity to provide better sightlines. This show has sold out the past four years. Advanced tickets recommended.
